It's that special time of day...when the temperature drops slightly (or a lot). The stores begin to close up, leaving the locals to fend to their local 7-11 or Taco Bell for substance. The children began to scurry on home, gamers grab the nearest and most secure place, stock with a smidgen of snack foods and sugary beverages, to get started on another nightly game-a-thon with their buddies online...
All is calm in the suburbs outside of the windy city........
As a kid...like many the dark scared the hell out of me. You don't know what's out there. You don't know what type of boogie man is crusing in his mother's beat up soccer van out and about lookin' for a victim. Mad at the world because his life is a waste, now he needs to get that power trip. He needs a victim...the sick fuck...he's wearing his crusty yellowed wife beater he's worn for the past three weeks..he smells of skunk piss and rotten onions...wears his thick coke bottle glasses which are being crudely held together by worn masking tape and super glue...oh you sick bastard...
*pant, pant*
'Cuse me bout that....this isn't about my next door neighbor. This is about that unseen part of day. Those other hours, that we as human beings miss out on the most. The night time. Don't think about how you're going to get mugged or ran down by alcohol fueled driver. Don't even think about what your missing out on TV or the latest conversation on Facebook. Just call up a few good buddies and go for a stroll. Grab your camera, a few dollars, meet up in a well lit place. Take a stroll...and witness the things you usually miss..
It's all a blur, lol
Streets that seem to be ever present with automobiles, now remain quiet for more than 30 seconds. The sidewalks, streets often filled with youths, screaming, laughing, conversations, swearing, gossiping , etc. are now desolate and deserted. The only few out now, the occasional homeless, trying to find a safe and secure place to rest their head, the nocturnal animals begin their quest for a decent meal, just to sleep it off during sunrise. One or so teenagers trying to get home, hoping they might be able not to get yelled at for being out so late (happened to me plenty of times). Then there's you and your friends...walking, chatting, laughing, oblivious to those who are tucked away in bed.
Welcome to the night life. Enjoy it.
